Effects of Trunk Injection of BA on shoot Growth from Latent Buds in Apple Trees

Abstract

|
Injection method by arborijector was used with BA to induce bud break of 2-year-old apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) trees.
The 3㎖ of BA were successfully injected into trunk of `Fuji´ and `Hatsuaki´ apple trees. Dye was forced into trunk quickly and distributed rapidly 30㎝ above and 23㎝ below the injection point within 30 minutes. The injections of BA solution induced latent buds upward and downward the injection site to break. Application of 3㎖ of 200ppm BA to sprout latent buds was more effective than 100ppm BA. Application of BA followed by GA injection significantly increased the shoot growth compared with BA alone. Chemical names used: N-(phenylmethyl)-1H-purin-6-amine (BA).
